Charmers.
SIMPLICITY IS CHARMING.
When asked to create a 5-piece cohesive model, I was stuck on the idea of making something that could be personalized but still had a cohesive idea. I came to the idea of a charm bracelet. I was able to choose 3 charms that were personalized to me, but could be personalized to anyone else who chose as well. I didn't want to choose too detailed designs, but I wanted them to still be clear. Simple, yet meaningful. I was focused on the idea of simplicity when working on these charms. I wanted them to all look like they were similar and belonged together. In order to do this, I used curves to create three shapes, a poop emoji, an A, and a cross. I then extruded the pieces at the same level to make sure they were similar in size and form. This way, they looked the same but were all different shapes with different meaning. The poop emoji is just something I love, the A is the first letter in my name, and the cross is something that represents a passion of mine. By creating something that meant something to me, I was able to express myself and show how I like to work; with simplicity.
| To start, I made each of the objects from creating curves, joining them, and extruding them. For the poop emoji I had to turn points on and manipulate some curves. After I extruded each of them, I used 3 cylinders of the same size and Boolean difference in order to create the hole for the links to go through. Second, I created each of the links for the bracelet part of the charm bracelet. I used curves and lines to create a flat curve in the shape of the link. I then used the pipe command to turn it into a real chain form. After creating each of the pieces I needed, including making the hoops for the charms to hook to the bracelet links (using the same strategy as the chains), I was able to put the model together into a cohesive piece that formed the whole charm bracelet. |
